1. Making a pattern that goes in a cone shape was challenging
2. If I were to change something I would have developed a better plan/ outline 3. The most successful part was my spiral cut outs My partner was miles. He is making a cardboard alter peice. He plans to make it mostly out of cardboard. As well as adding small items suck as strong and " other cool things to make it look cool" quoted by miles.
The biggest problem I faced was the feet and making my peice stand up. I added a stand and nail the feet into the wood in order for it to stand on its own. The most sucsessful part of this project was how I painted the duck. If i could change something I would have left the googly eyes on. This was a very long process I started with a wire frame then proceded to fill the frame with plastic bags. After that I covered the peice in paper mache and let it dry. Then i was able to cover the peice in joint compound and sand it once it was dry. Finally i painted the duck and added the stand.
I creayted the illusion of depth by creating a vanishing point and making all my lines go towards it. This is a living room i picked it beacuse this is my favorite room in the house, because this is where my family spends most itsa time.

This peice is part of sculpture by the sea in Bondi, by artist Alessandra Rossi. This peice is titled coral, inspired by the phenomenon of coral bleaching. The sculpture is made out of multiple translucent layers. I really like this peice because the appearance changes dramatically when viewed from different angles during the day. At some times the layers vanishes against the horizon. I also like how the layers are so harsh and change colors very abruptly. I find it inspiring that the message behind the peice is coral bleaching and has a deeper meaning than meets the eye. In order to create this I made a wire figure and stuffed it with plastic bags. Then I covered the figure in 4 layers of paper mache followed by 3 layers of joint compound to smooth it out. After that dried I sanded the figure and started painting it. For the rest of the peice I just need to paint and add details.
For this project I made tea cups. To do this I rolled out slabs and cut them into a rounded shape. Then I scored and slipped them to a bottom peice and a connected each end. After that I pulled very small handles and put them on. They were then fired and glazed to look like popular Disney princesses. The most difficult part was making a pulled handle as small as I did. The most successful part of my peice was the glaze. I picked this type of vessel because tea cups are known as being more delicate and I think princesses are delicate and thought this combination of ideas would go really well together.
.The idea of the installation peice was to create a tunnel as well as an interactive peice. We posed a question what does your future hold and student were able to write on index cards the answer. I do not think this was successful it looks cool but the interactive part did not go well most comments did not pertain to the posed question. If we did its gain I would do it on both sides of the wall to make a tunnel more tunnel like and would not pose a question.
The first sculpture is by Daniel Grant I like it because it feels like you are under water.
I like the second photo because it looks looks like a tornado of butterflies. The last phot I like because it took me a while to realize the sculpture was of feet coming out of the wall. I like how I had to do a double take to figure out what the peice was. |
